The Ingredients: Distilled using 60% Sorghum, 20% Wheat, 20% Rice in dirt fermentation pits and clay pots.
The Spirit: 52% ABV (104 proof) Baijiu. Nose: Peppery, ripe peach, toasted rice. Tongue: Slight sweetness, peach, and pear. “Bainian” literally translates to “hundred years.” Its quality is exceptional and it is brilliantly smooth as well as flavorful. You can enjoy it at room temperature or serve it chilled.
The Package: An incredibly fancy 750ml bottle couched in an ornate red and gold platform, enclosed by a tamper-proof box.
The Distillery: Luzhou, Sichuan Province, China: The cellar of Luzhou Laojiao was established in 1573. It is one of the oldest cellars in the world. The fermentation pits that they use have been used for over 300 years, creating an incredible microbiome unique to this distillery. Today, it is also one of the most valuable liquor brands in the world ranked at number 8, just ahead of Jack Daniel’s.
